I recently was notified that I had Hilton Honors points expiring December 1, 2018. These points are a holdover from the time where I used to stay at Hilton hotels for work. These days we save money and stay Airbnbs for both work and personal travel. I had accumulated just over 35,000 Hilton Honors points and with no plans to use them for a stay I was looking for alternative ways to spend them.
Shopping at Amazon was one of the options to use the points, which is probably the easiest (but not the most efficient) use of points. Note that Hilton Honors points are worth 0.5 cents per point on average meaning my 35,000 points would be technically worth about $175 in a hotel stay. This depends widely on room rates and you can learn more about Hilton Honors point values here.
Much like other rewards programs that allow you to shop on Amazon, the points are worth considerably less. On Amazon, my Hilton Honors points are worth just 0.2 cents per point as you’ll notice below.
